How to create a shadow in paint.net (video)

1. Select the text tool from the tool box. Set the font to Arial Black and the font size to 72px. Set the color to red.

2. Add a new layer (layer 2).

3. With layer 2 selected, left-click in the canvas and type the word "TEXT".

4. With layer 2 selected still, click the duplicate layer button located on the layers window. It is the third button from the left. Now you should have three layers: background, layer 2, and layer 2.

5. Select layer 3, and then select the "move selection" tool. It is the dark cursor at the very top-right portion of the tool box. Move the duplicate layer 2 (or layer 3) word "TEXT" down and to the right just a little. It should look like this:

6. With the duplicate layer 2 still selected, choose Adjustments from the menu bar and click on Brightness/Contrast. Set the brightness to -100 and the contrast to 100. Click OK.

7. The black text needs to be behind the red text, so select the duplicate layer 2 (which should already be selected) and click on the "move layer down" button. It is the down-arrow button on the layers window.

8. With that same layer still selected (the layer containing the black text), click on Effects, highlight blurs, then click on Gaussian blur. Set the blur to 12, and click OK.
